On the afternoon of October 23, 2019, the Sino US School International Education and Cultural Exchange Conference was held grandly at our school. This is the beginning of our school's series of international exchange activities, marking that our school has incorporated international exchange work into its regular work and begun to gradually implement it.
The sound of the violin welcomes distant guests
The music was melodious, and two middle school students performed a violin and piano ensemble called "Blue and White Porcelain" together, welcoming foreign friends who had come from afar and opening the curtain of this exchange meeting.
Ms. Huang Ling, the executive principal of our school, delivered a speech at the exchange meeting, expressing the warmest welcome to the leaders, teachers, students, and parents present, and introducing the efforts and achievements of our school in exploring international education to the guests present. She emphasized the training objectives of our school's graduates: "What we are doing is preparing our junior high school students. After they graduate next year, some will choose to study in exemplary high schools in China, while others will be interested in studying abroad. Therefore, today we organized this Sino US cultural exchange. As the principal, I sincerely hope that our school's students can study in American high schools, where they can broaden their horizons, learn cutting-edge knowledge, develop leadership skills, and enhance competitiveness
Elegant ethnic style
Accompanied by the rich ethnic music, our school students dressed in distinctive costumes danced gracefully, showcasing the unique culture of the Miao ethnic group to foreign friends with graceful dance moves. Then, a series of delicious food with Guangxi characteristics were served in turn. Students introduced Zongzi, Qingtuan, fried dumplings, hydrangea dumplings and other local specialties of Guangxi to the guests in fluent English, and invited the guests to taste the unique "outstanding on the tip of the tongue".
Subsequently, the principals of Lancaster School and Murphy High School in the United States successively introduced the distinctive culture, educational philosophy, and rich extracurricular activities of the two schools to our teachers, students, and parents, allowing everyone present to have a further understanding of high-quality education in American high schools. They also provided valuable advice on how to succeed in studying abroad in the United States from three aspects: interview, study, and life.
Initial Experience in the United States
The teachers at Lancaster School brought an exciting English literature experience class to our school students, allowing them to have a close encounter with American high school classrooms and classic English literature. In the classroom, different classroom environments and teaching methods make students interested and eager to speak up, frequently communicating with American teachers.
After class, American teachers highly praised our school's bilingual teaching achievements and affirmed the students' performance. Students also expressed that the authentic American classroom left them unsatisfied.
The two principals of Lancaster School and Murphy High School also conducted mock interviews with our school students. In English communication, interviews place more emphasis on students' independent thinking ability and unique perspectives on a certain issue. Students not only need fluent oral communication, but also need to combine their thinking on problems with vocabulary to form language expressions.
The two principals expressed their appreciation for the standard fluent oral English and rich knowledge of our school's students, and provided valuable suggestions for their future efforts.
At the exchange meeting, our school's students and parents also had in-depth consultations with leaders and teachers from Lancaster School and Murphy High School in the United States on issues related to American education and studying abroad. With their patient explanations, they obtained satisfactory answers.
This event not only allowed our teachers and students to learn about American schools and education methods, but also provided a close-up experience of the unique charm of American education. It also answered questions for students who are interested in studying abroad.
